Make good use of the internet to compare prices at different garden and DIY shops and always ask them for their ‘best’ price; if you buy a lot of materials from the same company, they may be willing to give you a slightly cheaper deal. Think carefully about how you are going to store your materials once you have them; it’s no good leaving untreated wood etc. out in the open for long periods of time, so you will definitely need a garage or shed to store them in, or at least a waterproof sheet while you complete the work.
